Tailer Chains and Small Hooks

I just got Crosby 4.75 ton rated shackles for my 2500 hitch.

do you recall the part number? i bought 2 sets now and the part where the pin goes through flares too much to fit through the bottom hole

Crosby 1018133.   That pic was when I put the first one on after getting them.  Before putting on the second, I painted both of them will Rustoleum primer/paint combo.

I went a different way to correct the same problem with a horse trailer we just purchased. Went to a local trailer service shop and purchased larger grade 70 locking hooks. Swapped out the smaller hooks and was good to go.

 

This is the first truck I've seen with the 2.5" receiver and the over-sized safety chain hook ups.

I did the same thing, but they redesigned the hitch on these newer trucks and they went accept the larger hooks...
