Bigger battery or Second battery

I will never ever touch an optima. A battery I feel is something if you doe d a little more you'll be happier. I have xs batteries in all my vehicles except 1 and it's getting one soon

I never ever had a problem with Optima batteries. Since I done a more than a little, I feel very happy with Optima. When the factory batteries go, they always get replaced with Optima. From the red top for my 92 Sonoma GT, and 00 Blazer to the yellow top in my 03 Silverado and 12 Tahoe. A yellow top will replace the battery in the 16 Silverado when it is time (if they make one by then for it).

I replace our batteries every 4 years. Never been stranded or replaced one in the cold. :happysad:

Are you doing that out of precaution or necessity? I assume its precaution, my yellow top was in my 03 Silverado for about 10 years before I traded it in.

More out of precaution I would like to do with a dual battery setup but reading through some of the steps involved from other readers it maybe slightly above my skill set to complete successfully

For those who have personally replaced their batteries, any special instructions or precautions? Besides the + and - leads there are 3 others. I want to retain my settings and I already have the cig outlet battery device for that. My battery is a little over 4 y/o and I will be replacing it soon.....thanks.

You can hook a battery tender to the cables before removing the battery but the trick is to keep them connected while moving things around to get the battery out.

Help me here. I know a little about Alternating Current behavior and loading. Not so much about 12v DC.

I had two 12v marine batteries in my boat. Redundant and self explanatory.

Why do you start the car with the 100wHID lights on? Ditto full stereo load?

Do you operate these components while parked with the key in the ACC position but engine off?

I have and XS battery for the main battery and my auxilary battery. They make a direct replacement for the K2's. The ones I have are X2's. I have all aftermarket lights and my amp hooked to the auxilary battery. With a lot of added lights and the amp its probably safer for you to add a second battery. Even if you never use that stuff except with engine running, they drain your battery faster then it needs to recharge more often. Any battery has a limit to drain recharge cycle. I got the X2 AGM batteries because they are made by North Star, they are very highly rated for dependability and longevity.

My main battery was $250 with a 5 year warranty
