Clunk in rear end/transmission when WOT at highway speeds

Has anyone else experienced this? I was on a road trip this past weekend and when I put the pedal down to pass someone going incredibly slow on the interstate, I heard a clunking (felt like transmission or rear end) as it downshifted. I waited a little bit and tried it again and it did the same thing.

 

This doesn't happen when driving around town or on the highway and hitting half throttle or anything. Just noticed it when I really got on it to pass someone. Any have any idea what that may be? Maybe a slip in the yoke assembly?

Thanks for the replies. Is this something I should have looked at? I am concerned I will get the "can't duplicate" story lol.

Sounds like a good excuse to get it out and drive it like you stole it, only to attempt to self diagnose the problem of course :driving:
