2006 Silverado cranks but won't start

I recently purchased a 2006 Silverado for my son, the first few days we had no problems then the truck started, died, and wouldn't restart. He unhooked the battery for about 10 minutes and after he reconnected it the truck started right up. Every few days it just randomly dies and you disconnect and reconnect the battery it starts again. Any ideas as to what would cause this?

stupid passlock system? when that goes wonky, you have to cross your fingers every time you want to start it.

I had similar issues. I have no idea how to fix it, but my dealer found a loose wire in the steering column and after fixing it my problem went away. my truck was a 1998. not sure if it's the same system on a 06.

I didn't have to disconnect the battery, just turn key off, wait the 10 minutes and try again. maybe disconnecting the batter is faster.

good luck.

My first guess would be to check all that wiring right above the gas and brake. My gas pedal sensor was freaking out because the wires to the module were frayed.

Have you tried giving it a bit of throttle when cranking? When my IAC when out, that worked.
