2014 Silverado Steering wheel position sensor after leveling kit

I installed my rough country leveling kit and then took the truck into the dealership for an alignment and they called and told me that after doing the alignment my truck is throwing code c0545 symptom byte 00, which is turning on a light on the dashboard. I called another service shop and they told me that it was common that the dealership needed to calibrate the sensor. I called the dealership back and they told me it would be a 100$ an hour to diagnose the issue and they already calibrated it and the light continues to stay on.

Anyone else experience this after doing a leveling/lift kit.

Update*** after the dealer performed the diagnostic they said I need to replace my rack and pinion. They said I caused it to go bad by having both upper control arms separated at the same time while installing the leveling kit. I called Rough country and they said that would not cause the issue at all and the dealership was full of it.

Anyone have any advice on how I should handle this?

Go to a different dealer. Full of $hit indeed.

Final update**

Dealer did 3 hours of troubleshooting to come to the resolution that the rack and pinion were bad due to my installation process (even though I followed instructions from Rough Country). They said it would cost me $2,300 for them to fix it but they would cut me a discount and do the repair for $1,600.00. I took the truck to another repair shop and within 30 minutes they said that the issue was b/c the wire harness going to the power steering underneath the truck had been yanked on and was "eaten up". They repaired the wire harness the best they could and the issue is now fixed. They did this repair and didn't charge me a penny. I asked them how this happened and this is where it gets interesting.

They looked at me and said why did you take out the rack and pinion? I replied that I didn't, they said that they are surprised that the rack and pinion hadn't fallen off the truck while driving from the dealer to their shop. They said that the rack and pinion bolts holding it to the frame were unbolted about an inch and still loose.

Their best guess on what happened is that the dealership took the rack and pinion loose during their 3 hours diagnosis and didn't unplug the wire harness and yanked on it enough to pull wires out of the harness. in doing so they bolted back up the rack and pinion but didn't tighten the bolts.

Long story short, I filed a complaint with GM and will not be going back to this dealership. Jones Chevrolet in Humboldt TN

That is CRAZY! Damn dealers sometimes! It's because of things like this that I do my own service. Same with my Harley; I hear horror stories all the time. Glad you got it squared away.
