2017 infotainment question/issue

Hi all,

I'm new to GMCs. I picked up a 2017 1500 Denali and I love the truck, but I'm attempting to understand if what I'm experiencing is normal behavior before bringing to the dealer to let their hacks look at it.

I value night vision while driving I the dark here in MN as deer and other critters are very prevalent, not to mention any other road hazards, so I always shut off nav screens when I'm driving. Mine, however, turns on by itself with no rhyme or reason. No buttons are being pushed, no knobs being turned, all knives are secured within a detent spot, I've cleaned the screen vigilantly, etc. it's massively distracting to have this come on on the highway, ruins night vision, etc. Is this normal behavior or is there something else? Too sensitive a touch screen, loose connection perhaps? Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, where in MN are you? I live in Maple Grove.

How are you shutting off the radio? 2 things. Your dash dimmer should correlate to the screen. I turn mine down for night driving as well.

The only way I've seen to turn the radio off is to hold in the volume button. If the time bothers you, I've seen guys take a cloth piece and tape it or Velcro it to the dash. Then let it hang down to drown out the screen. Flip it up and Velcro when you want to use it. Kind of ghetto but that's about all you have for choices.

I'm in Bloomington.

I shut it off by going through settings->display->turn off display.

It seems as though it might have some type of issue where the screen is processing being touched and turning on when, in fact, it is not being touched. I keep everything at full dim 100% of the time.

I'm really trying to understand if this is how they all behave or if I need to let the dealer look at it ( I typically only bring my vehicles to the shop for alignments as I prefer to do my own work).

Thanks for the response!
