TruckMeRunnin Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Looking for opinions before I spend a boat load swapping
Logan Lanfear Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I would probably say engine knock with a little of manifold leak also. Did the problem just come up or has it been getting progressively worse? Kinda hard to tell based off of just the sound.
TruckMeRunnin Posted September 27, 2017 Author Posted September 27, 2017 Literally everything was fine Thursday. Fired it up Friday and boom knock knock
Logan Lanfear Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 What is the oil looking like? Did it ever run with no pressure? Pretty good indication that you might have spun a bearing and toasted it. Listening to it again it sounds a little too rough to be an exhaust leak. I noticed in the video it looked like the gauge or pressure sending unit was toasted so you probably don't have a way to read the actual pressure. I would assume the worst with rod knock.
mookdoc6 Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Bro,Bro....turn it off when it sounds like that! She needs to be opened up all the way top/bottom! Is it worth it $ that is what you have to decide sometimes it is others times it's time to move on....good luck! I have driven 305's like that and I want to say.........It drove for probably 20 miles before it finally seized.... Of note man that 305 took for ever to finally die....cornfields/train tracks/submerged you name it odometer stopped past 200K long before I owned it.......don't make em like they used too!
1997SierraSLT Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I've had a stuck lifter and it's nowhere near that loud.
