BCM Matchup?

Does a replacement BCM need to match the truck it's going into? Motor, vehicle wise, etc... The reason I ask is because I purchased a BCM from a 2001 Yukon on eBay for my 1999 Silverado. Everything functions, but the truck wont run. It will start up and then die right away (1-2 sec). Any thoughts?

 

EDIT: I put the original BCM back in and it works just fine.

Your BCM has to "talk" to your truck for it to start. With the new BCM, the truck has to learn the new password. Here's the procedures for getting that to happen, which was provided to me by one of our mrmbers, Dex857.

Any thoughts to why my speedometer is pegged beyond the 100mph mark? I'm going to disconnect the battery to try and reset everything see if that clears it up.

LOL! I didnt think of it that way... I do have a lead foot most of the time though!

I replaced the BCM with a newer one that allows me to set the automatic door lock/unlock options.

 

The pegged speedometer must've just been a glitch. I'm guessing that a spike from reconnecting the battery sent it to the 100mph mark. I ended up removing the cluster and turning it around so that the needle went back to zero. Reinstalled and now it's just fine.

Does your CARGO LAMP indicator still work if you turn on the Cargo Lamp? That's one thing I've wondered about, because the SUV's don't have a Cargo Lamp.

I thought about this last night... actually I thought about it NOT working because of it being from an SUV. I am pleased to report that the light still functions and that the CARGO LAMP ON lights up in the DIC! Everything still works just as it should, including the fog lights, cargo light and now the lock/unlock options.

Cool! Now to track down an 02 Escalade BCM or get one of mine reprogrammed to think it's an 02 Escalade BCM.
