09 GMC Sierra having hard time shifting from park

having a hard time shifting out of park acts like it wont unlock

Do you use the parking brake often?  I reckon the whole truck is leaning against the fork and this is made worse on ground that is not level.

With the ignition key in the on position and the engine off, when you press the brake do you hear and click noises inside the vehicle?

agree with justin sounds like a failing lock solenoid
