Rear Window slider

hey I wanted to start off by saying my truck got broken into through the rear window slider. they didn't take that much stuff since I didn't really have anything in there. but they did decide to take my kids toys and my pre work out. who the **** does that??!!!! well anyways now I got to get a new glass installed and I got some quotes and the dealership is pricing it at 750 installed and another one for 650. they said nobody here in san Diego has it in stock., they said its not a common window to replace. WTF! it would be coming from either Canada or Michigan. I looked at some websites and it cost 350. I looked at the design of the slider and it seems pretty easy to install. I was wondering if anybody got the chance to replace that window them self???

I am guessing you don't have insurance for glass replacement. Have you tried an auto glass replacement store? You mention a quote from a dealership. They may offer a better priced alternative.

Has anyone have problems with the way they slide ? mine is kind of should I say sticky , may put some wax on the slider to help any one have a solution ?, it seems like it needs oil but I don't want to get residue on the windows ,

it just seems toy-ish, I dont get it, brand new it was stuck , and took alot of back and forth before it became full sliding ,

but I think it could be better

Didn't change mine myself but had it replaced by a local glass repair place this past winter when it blew out. You have to pull the back seat out to get at where the motor portion is for operating the slider. They screwed up putting my seat back so it rattled like crazy and scuffed all the dark brown trim right below the window with the brackets on the back of the seat when they put it back. Made them replace the trim pieces and fix the seat. It's fairly good now although every so often I hear something coming from the rear passenger seat. Overall not a difficult job but things can get messed up if someone who doesn't care and is in a hurry does it. Mine seems like it sticks ever so slightly when I first open it after its not been opened for a bit. The original never did it. This is an actual gm window they put in too which I was surprised when I saw the marking on the glass. I had glass coverage so I'm not sure what it actually cost.

I do have insurance but I'm pretty handy so I think I can do it myself. they say they don't have that window in stock cause its not a window that breaks that often. they would be doing the same thing as me doing research and installing it so that is why I feel I don't have to go that route. my detectable is 500 and the window is 325.
