Windshield Cleaner, Anyone??

Well, did a couple of searches and only came up with the Zaino stuff. No offense, but I would like to find something in a store that I can go pick up and buy now.

Anyway, tried to clean (for the first time ever) the inside of the windshield yesterday with regular ole Windex and it left tremendous haze/streaks on the windshield. Need something quick as looking thru the haze is driving me nuts. Also, do you use paper towels or newspaper or what?

Bonus points for off-the-shelf suggestions that can be found at Wally World, pepboys or oreillys.

So whaddya use?

I JUST cleaned my windshield over the weekend.

 

I used something my dad had used on his vehicles, called "Stoners".

 

It was a spray foam in a standard aerosol can

 

works great, but make sure, with any cleaner, that I've found, is wash the windshield in the shade, out of direct sunlight. And let the windshield cool down a little

I've had the most consistant luck with Windex w/vinegar and newspaper. definitely newspaper. I just used the new Armor All window wipes for the first time and they worked surprisingly well.

Does anyone here use ZEP glass cleaner? It comes in an aerosol can. I buy it from some guy I was referred to when I was looking for their PLS lubricant. It works surprisingly well. My wife now uses it in place of Windex for the house. I have seen ZEP products in Home Depot but when I asked the guy I buy it from he says that it is a different version. It smells of a multi-level marketing thing but I have been really happy with the PLS and glass cleaner.

I use a foam in an aeresol can by Simoniz, works really well. I never use newspapers, I have seen sooooo many people use newspapers and scratch their "film" tint. I'll probably try the Stoners when I run out of this stuff!

Duuuudes, Stoners it is..... Prolly pick up a good quality microfibre cloth whilst i'm at it.

 

BTW, I used to buy the ZEP brand for our plexi shields on our machinery at work. I don't think it was a pyramid thing, but the rep did work out of his home. Worked really well on really grimey stuff tho. Should've stole a few cans before they shut the place down and moved it to mexico. Rant for another day.....

Plexus for all the plastic stuff and regular ole windex with news paper for windows. Plexus is another good all around cleaner. Just do a search on line for it, I don't get browny points since it is not in stores. At least from what I can find, I only found it on line.

If you don't wash the inside of the window frequently like every month. I've noticed that just washing it twice with windex and paper towels works just fine for me. ie Spray it down well, clean it off, then repeat with some new paper towels. I also am a stickler for it being clean on the inside of my windows. So I just got into the habbit of washing the inside of the windshield and windows every 3 or 4 weeks. No need for special cleaners or microfiber rags. I'm sure you can spend a lot of money to do the same but I just don't see the point.

 

I tried the newspaper thing once and it left some weird kind of residue on my side windows. I think the local paper uses some kind of weird ink since it will wipe off on my shirt or pants occasionally. Just something to think about.

For the outside windows I use Armor All in the squirt bottle- seems to have a nice detergent that cuts through the grime/dead bugs. On the inside I use the Armor All wipes on the side and back and the Armor All squirt bottle on the inside windshield. I don't wash the inside windshield too often, though.

 

I have a smallish dog (Jack Russell Terrier- Hobey) who rides on the folded down armrest. He tends to make tons of nose prints on the side windows so I have to wash them often, hence the wipes.

I started using Stoners this summer. It is the best I've tried in my many years. I've used both newsprint and cotton rags and both seem to work fine.

I posted this same question a few months ago and had alot of people recommend Stoners. So I gave it a try and it is the best stuff I have ever used. Buy it at walmart, you won't be dissapointed!

I use a microfiber towel and Spray-A-Way glass cleaner that I buy a case at a time from a detail supply shop. It is an areosol type also. I also use the Zep spray with the same results, It can be found at Home Depot. We use these for everything in the house too. Your wife will love the stuff!

 

I still haven't found a good use for Windex!!!! Stuff Sucks!

Stoner's Invisible Glass with a microfiber cloth. This works great for me and leaves no haze or residue!
