Upgrade to LED bulbs

I have a 2017 Suburban LT with the factory headlights.  I am kicking around the idea of upgrading to LED headlights, probably just the high beams due to cost.  Has anyone done this?  What brand are you using? Likes, dislikes?

I posted this in the Suburban page without much luck.  I figured I would try here next.

I’m looking to do the same for my ‘15 Silverado. I have been watching YouTube videos reviewing different ones. I’m still unsure what kind to recommend or ones to go with. Off to do more research.

I made my 2017 GMC Yukon XL Denali all HID/LED; LED high beams, fog lights, reverse lights, and license plate lights. I upgraded my low beams to a clear white HID bulb. Day and night difference. As you said you have a Suburban LT so I'm guessing your low beams are a yellow-ish HID?

I’ll suck it up and be embarrassed. I don’t know if they are HID’s. To me they look like normal bulbs. When I looked in the manual, I think they were H11 and a 9005? Maybe? They are not terribly yellow to my eyes.

Take a picture of the headlights with them on. And of their output. I'm fairly certain they're halogens in projectors. Thats my bet anyway.

Here’s a picture in the garage. I know they are not on, nor the output. I’ll try and get those tomorrow. 09512d23d74e9a41fe10cfe77b7c2558.jpg

If I'm correct, those are more-than-likely low output HID's in the low beams and halogen in high beams, I replaced the high beams with some very bright LED's and the low beams with Clear White HID's! Looks amazing!

Only SUV’s that come with HID’s are the Denali and LTZ Tahoe/suburban. Ls/lt/sle/slt suv are all halogen bulbs. Not hids.

So if they are halogen, I can plug and play an LED bulb correct?

I upgrade my low beams & fog light to DDM Tuning Raptor 35W LED bulbs. Ive been running these for the past year and have not had any issues with them. When the lights first arrived from ddm tuning i was very impressed on the quality of them, in the past ddm lights have been hit or miss especially with their HID Kits.

I do recommend purchasing the led fogs lights they make a significant difference at night and you wont ever need to hit you high beams. Occasionally i will have an idiot Subaru driver flash their lights aggressively but the rest of the time people dont react.

If you have a 2014 or newer Silverado you will need to also purchase a pair of headlight decoders in addition to the LED bulbs. Since Silverado have DLR light, the decoder is needed.

If the leds in the fogs are sufficient to not need high beams. You're probably blinding all the drivers you're going against. You should avoid that considering fogs should be aimed low and wide not high up.

Used them in the fog a couple weeks ago, was better off without them on.

On my '93 Grand Am, they were labeled "Driving Lights."
