March Sales Prices

Hey all.. first post but I've been lurking a bit. Love the forum and all the help I've read. I'm considering an '18 from Laura. Nicely equipped and the build I've been looking for. A few weeks ago prices were 2k cheaper than they are currently. There were a couple incentives dropped mid month. I didn't act fast enough because of my schedule unfortunately.

Long story short, would you have the greedy guts to hope and wait to see if March has a similar offer or just suck it up and take the current 21-22% off MSRP now?

It depends, if it is the exact spec you are looking for and that spec is hard to find then I’d probably go ahead and buy it. If it is a fairly commonly available spec, or you are flexible on what you want, then I’d wait a little longer and see where prices go. As we get closer to 2019s being available prices should go down considerably.

Busydaddy. You and I are in the exact same boat. Hope you don’t want “ my” truck. I’m waiting till March partly because the quarter ends. Partly I don’t want calcium chloride all over my ride. See you at laura’s!

It’s fairly common at that dealer.. not here in Michigan though. Standard bed crew cabs with the extra tow pkg are few and far between here):

If you could wait till June and July sales events you might do a bit better but you would have to spend some bit of time really watching for the pricing deals.  I am enjoying this 17 so far so I may actually keep this one a few years........it was a 22% deal back last year at Laura. CC Std bed Denali Ultimate. My patience is not quite as as strong as some folks LOL IMG_3421.thumb.JPG.100eeee4ef40fe2c0a7050b4fcb8fd10.JPG

I got a heck of a good deal on my Silverado in March of 2016. Just keep your eyes open for killer deals.

Gorgeous truck! The one I'm looking at is available in silver, blue, and white. I figured that I'd wait and see which I liked best in person but now you have me leaning towards that navy.

For all of the automotive industry here, one would think the local dealers would have the best deals for employee pricing. Not so. Perhaps we share a rental drive to laura and buy two trucks that SE Michigan will lose sales on for whatever reason. Local dealers won’t order cc std bed trucks unless they are full tilt denalis.

I have been watching inventory and pricing for 6 months. I would like to buy here. But can’t. My last car I bought in 2016 I bought out of state for the same reason, dealer would not or didn’t know how to match price and make a sale. The road trip was fun for my wife and I to Virginia.

If March brings us good looking numbers, I'll drive us down there and you can buy lunch.. I'm probably trading in current. Ridiculous that we have to leave the Motor City to find the best deals! Maybe we need to open a volume dealership in the city on some of those vacant acres.

With all the family campers and boaters in state, you'd think more customers would increase demand for the longer wheelbase for towing stability.

It appears the prices are still $2k higher than early February. If you do the financing, that number is $1k. This goes until next weekend, where I suppose another round of incentives take place.  The $1k for GM financing is likely at 5-6 percent. The minimum amount to get the $1k is 10k down, and can be paid off in 6 months. So strategically that would cost around $300 in financing for the 6 months IF you pay the normal payment schedule, then pay off fully or refinance.  There may be other ways around that but we will see what is possible. We are thinking about it, but not in a hurry at all.  I don't drive my truck in the calcium chloride brine destruction chemicals put on the roads, so spring is a nice time to buy.  Again, end of March is the end of first quarter.  I expect continued incentives.

If the same truck was $2000. less last month and is still available, try offering the same this month.  Their first response may be "no" but I suspect a little bit of persistence will work in your favor.  The price you saw last month will be offered again, if not lower.

I pulled the trigger on it. I needed a new truck before my previous put me in a pinch and didn’t want to risk the price going up more. It was $1500 more than at the beginning of February but my trade in was better than I had expected. The price was far better than anything at home and I would have had to order it and wait.

Long story short, I’m officially in the GMC fam!
