2018 silverado tailights into a 2017

Hello, I have tried called my local dealerships parts department and cannot seem to get an answers so I thought I might have better luck here. I have a 2017 silverado but I think the tail lights on the 2018 look way better. will the 2018 tail lights swap directly with the 2017? 

 

any help is appreciated

it's not just a 18.   Is the 18 a LTZ?  That's the only different light.  Work trucks all the way to the LT use the same light.  LTZ have LED tail lights.  14-18 all fit the same, with the LTZ being the exception.  You'll need a custom harness with load resistors to make them work, but they'll fit right in.

any suggestions on where I could get that harness or load resistors? my two trucks before this were a K5 blazer and an 04 tahoe so I have no experience with changing out lights or electrical

Gen5diy has them.  Also I think a member on here makes the harness.  His name is @pgamboa I would send him a message before you order from gen5, not that there is an thing wrong with them, would just prefer to buy from a fellow member.  He is on vacation for a couple more days so don't worry if he doesn't get right back to you.

Load resistors can be bought anywhere.  I got mine from Amazon.  100w 3ohm.  If you get the 3 ohm, you only need one on each side.  If you get the 6ohm ones, youll need one on each bulb.  Two per side.  Twice the cost, but can be done.
