Question, wouldn’t it just be a whole lot better just getting the adjustable 2.5’s for ease of adjustability versus a tuned shock for one specific? If it were me, I’d just get the adjustable 2.5’s and tweak them as necessary rather than one adjustment fits all, just my opinion this way you can tweak as necessary

More to it than that. Even adjustable are only giving you a general range. The "good" tuners can work magic and get things to the next level. And adjustable is still generic with a range. You can get a tuned adjustable that is killer for all your varying needs.  Heard a lot of good feedback about accutune. There are others though.

I shot accutune an email about my specific situation. I agree, a custom tuned shock would be ideal but I offroad only about 10-20% of the time during hunting season. The rest of the time it's a daily on the rough Indiana roads. I'll see if they would offer any major benefits to the off the shelf 2.5. Also in your experience, would the reservoir version be worth the upgrade aside from aesthetics?

I’d say, oh yeah!!!! Best of all, you can still tune your new resi’s at a later date if so desired

If you want the DSC adjustability the resi is the only way to go I believe.

I really enjoy my DSC’s on the minimum level I don’t feel the square lip bumps, like drivewAy lips man hole covers, and expansion joints, but when I hit the moderate speed maybe a little air stuff in the desert I dial the shocks up and they keep from hard jarring on the landings.

I know that but he was thinking to get his tuned with no dsc and just tuned. Mine were tuned at CST with no resi’s but I would’ve preferred with resi’s. A buddy of mine has the off the shelve 2.5’s, no extra tuning and loves them. Personally, I should’ve gone with the resi’s and if wasn’t happy with them always have them tuned to specific tuning.

If I recall correctly accutune said they can add the resi with DSC to the foxes later so that could be an option. Honestly if your not getting air or worried about stuffing the tires and don’t off road much I would say a soft valve tuning would probably be ok with non adjustable shocks.

IMHO, I’d rather get them with dsc and later tune them as desired rather than not having them to start.

MRT has got pretty solid deals on off the shelf 2.5's so i'm leaning towards those with the resi version after you two have persuaded me. If I need the adjustability later I can go the path Madcow suggested and add the dsc adjuster. Is there a specific spring rate to request for these or is it a one size fits most from Fox?

Some of the tuners give you custom spring rates and custom valving for the same price as off the shelf. It's all in what you want or are happy with. You can buy whatever stage top of the line shock and not have it be a good as a well tuned basic shock.

When it comes to tuners you are getting their skill and experience, they are not created equal (not even close) and some guys are just smarter than other guys and it shows in their work. Find "the" guy who has the best reputation and a proven track record and you will get a different result.

I'm happy with my unadjustable/off the shelf Kings. Is there room for improvement? certainly, but the time and effort to do it is more than what I want to do. However if you know it's available and what you want why not have some guy set you up with some really good shocks? nothing to loose. NOthing like good aftermarket from a skilled tuner you end up having stuff that just works better. A lot of driving conditions and preferences can be tuned for.

Just never get valving done by someone who does not know what they are doing (i'm talking about professionals too). If they don't use calculations or software, or math somehow to come up with their tunes I would look somewhere else.

How did the install go? Still enjoying the 2.5's?

Still haven't had a chance to install. Hopefully soon, I'm tired of looking at the boxes just sitting in my apartment.
