Like the title says, I buried my truck in some deep water without any preperation to it. :flag: The tranny, transfer case, differentials all submerged, luckly my motor is OK. I had to drive agout 15 miles after too. This is my question. First off do you think I did any significant damage?, I know I should change ALL fluids, but is there anything else I should look out for? Any certain additives I should put in with the new fluids? My truck only has 63K on it and I did this :D I was able to clean the interior up nice though....there was about a half of foot in my cab! :sigh: Thanks for any info, and gald to have joined here...looks awesome!!!!! :flag:

BTW....it's a 1996 Silverdao Ext. CAb Z71

Thanks!

Half a foot in the cab.

Umm, change the fluids and you should be ok. I think never changing fluids even without water in them is worse than getting water in them and then changing them.

If you have a posi you may have to put in an additive.

You may need to steam clean the interior. It may be dry and may not smell, but after sitting a smell may come back. We got a ton of river water in a Ford Aerostar at the place I used to work at and it caused bad mold in the carpet as well as a stinch that would never go away.

Change the fluids. BTW, did you get any pics?

Haha....naw, no pics.....It would have been cool though. I had my atv (400ex) in there too. I was thinking about trying to float that thing out and riding it to safety!!

Karosene works wonders for removing water out the diff's

Oh well just remember next time if your going to go floating ...use paddle tires :seeya:

Take the carpet out, rinse it well and let it dry out in the sun. May not seem easy but in the long run you will be glad you did. No mold mildew or odor. A large bottle of Fabreeze afterwards does a nice job too. Good advice about changing the fluids early water can hide in a lot of places, I wouldn't to soon since heat will cause water to evaporate. Good luck, sounds lick you have the luck of the irish in you.
