General Motors’ Maven platform has a new service that allows vehicle owners to share their personal vehicle. GM describes this program as a “peer-to-peer car-sharing beta that allows GM owners to list their cars and earn money.”

“Your car is one of the most expensive things you own. Sitting idle, it is a wasted asset,” said Julia Steyn, vice president, General Motors Urban Mobility and Maven. “It’s time to put your car to work. Maven’s peer-to-peer offering is a smart way for owners to offset their vehicle investment.”

Maven is an on-demand mobility sharing app. It rents Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles fit every need, from compacts to electric vehicles to SUVs. Maven members are able to rent cars by the hour, the day, the week or the month. The app has been used no for delivery vehicle drivers, campus vehicle sharing, and short-term city-based rentals.

The new peer to peer program is being beta tested in Chicago, Detroit, and Ann Arbor. Let us know if you give it a try and how your experience is.
