Weigh Safe Drop Hitch Feedback?

I'm considering getting one these - https://www.weigh-safe.com/product/weigh-safe-drop-hitch/ for my 2018 Silverado 1500.   Searching "weigh safe" isn't coming back with things specific to this drop hitch.  Does anyone have any feedback?  It's an awfully expensive hitch, but damn does it look good.  And the one I've brought over from my F150 is the usual rusted DrawTite affair with the roughed up ball.  Looked fine with my 20 year old F150, but looks out of place on my shiny new Silverado.

I have an 6" Andersen drop hitch on mine and love it. Looks good and with it being all aluminum it will not rust. The balls are stainless and  will corrode after a while but for the past couple of months it still looks new. Holds up well towing my motorcycle trailer and boat. That looks similarly well made although at 2/3 the cost.  However, I'm still intrigued by the weigh-safe's integrated tongue weight scale.  I occasionally haul a compact tractor on a 18' car hauler and it would be nice to have something to help me get the tractor's weight distributed correctly by moving it forward or backward based on the tongue weight gauge on the weigh safe hitch.   If that component works well and reliably it would be worth it to me relative to the cost premium over the Anderson.   Since each ball is separate on the weigh-safe, it would appear adding another ball is a cheaper prospect there.

I have one. It’s terrific. Solid and very high quality. It’s great to be able to peg your tongue weight, to avoid trailer sway and other issues.

I’ve used mine for about a year, and am actually now looking to sell it (sold our off-road vehicles and trailer, so no longer need it). Let me know if you’re interested, as I could save you some $ off retail.

Have that exact hitch in an 8" drop. Best hitch I've ever owned. Looks great, doesn't rust, shows accurate tongue weight, and haven't had sway or any other tow issues. Also, it's a super simple plug and play system - especially the ball - there's no giant nut to torque if you swap ball size. It's a simple locking pin built into the hitch. Worth the retail price, but if you can buy it for less from PK8 do it now!

 

PS - the 8" drop is good for my truck which has a 1" lift in the rear. At stock height the 8" drop is too close to the road for my comfort - could bottom out. If you're stock height you might want to go 6" or 4". Another factor to consider is how low the tongue will be to keep the trailer level.

My '18 Silverado is just stock height.  I have a boat trailer and a car hauler so I'll have to check on the drop.  I saw a YouTube review on a stock Sierra and the guy went with 6" and said it was OK, but that he probably in hindsight should have gone 4".  

 

(I see you're in St. Louis.  I'm from there originally - I know how to answer "the question" on schools.  LOL)

I originally got the 8" for my Escalade which had the receiver built into the bumper, so it mounted pretty high. When I put it on my 2016 Sierra I thought it looked kind of low, seeing as the hitch is below the bumper. Towed once without any issues so we'll see. I figure worst case scenario I can take it to a machine shop and have them cut off 2-4 inches and smooth/polish the cut.

 

I live in St. Louis, but am not originally from here. I have gotten the "the question" about what school I went to - they're always confused when I tell them the name of the Michigan high school I graduated from lol. Another adjustment for me was their use of the word "hoosier" to describe certain people. I'm originally from Michigan so I grew up with a hoosier being a person from Indiana...not the same here :-)

The only Hoosier I know makes race tires.  Good ones too.  That hitch is very cool.  If I end up getting a TT, I'll have to try to remember this one.

I have one and it is the bomb. Never wonder about tongue weight again. Has really improved my towing experiences. It is a stout beautiful piece too. Fantastic quality, well worth the money. 

 

Also I get approached at least twice a month by guys who see the hitch. It's jewelry. LOL
