Undercover Flex fiberglass showing.

Hey everyone! I have an undercover flex trifold cover on my truck and I thought it had small scratches on it. Upon a closer look there is tiny strands of fiberglass sticking out everywhere. Has anyone had this issue? Do you have any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

How many years and miles on the cover? From what I understand these are good for maybe 40-50k miles and 3-4 years and they start to go to crap... I had one years ago but, only kept it for 2 years as it was very poorly put together and leaked a lot...

The regular Flex has a 3 year warranty - if you are in that period speak to Under Cover first. The Ultra Flex and Armor Flex have a 5 year warranty. The top panel is different between each series.

I HIGHLY recommend the Ultra or Armor over the regular Flex due to the tailgate seal alone, as the regular Flex requires you to lift the cover to close the tailgate (if you aren't doing that you are damaging the seal). That alone is enough to never consider that cover.

I've read just the opposite and haven't experienced your issues though I've only had it for a couple months. Leaking has a lot to do with how it was installed as you really needs to get the bed rails pushed down and secured well.

I already sold the cover and went to a Tonnopro but, thanks for the tip... I went round and round with Undercover but, at the time they were not part of truckhero and they sent me a box of seals, a couple of tubes of cheap super glue and told me this satisfied their warranty and I should fix the cover myself... This was about 5 years ago though so maybe they're doing better work and offering better customer service now.... I certainly had everything installed correctly, unfortunately the cover was just assembled poorly and most of the seals leaked where they met the panels and hinges and UC told me to just pound salt... I eventually got the distributor I went through to send me a new cover under warranty and that one leaked just the same, I tossed the original one and sold the replacement NIB to some guy on craigslist on the cheap... It was too bad because I really liked the design of the cover...

I bought the cover used from a guy on Facebook for $175. It came with brand new rails and clamps and I didn’t notice the issue until I was installing it on the truck. So, needless to say I don’t have a receipt. I guess my only option is to try to coat it with something.

Yeah, you have no idea what the previous owner may have done to that poor cover.

I was thinking the same thing. Something like LineX. I know they have a more cost effect "in a can" do-it-yourself version though I have never used it. UnderCover uses LineX in their ArmorFlex model so apparently it can be done. ;)
