Thump After Take Off/Slow Down

Anyone experiencing a thump when coming to a complete stop or slowly taking off? Sometime it doesn’t thump at all. It’s feel like a very hard shift from the rear end.

Welcome to the site. What model, year, engine, transmission? If it is an 8 speed, could be multiple things, same thing really goes for the 6 speed.

No worries, go to the troubleshooting section, scroll through the pages, you will find many threads, pretty sure others have/are experiencing the same thing you are. You will find plenty of fixes/complaints.

May be the infamous GM sliding driveshaft thump.  The last I'd heard, they had not fixed it across 3 or 4 generations of 1500 pickups.  You can search for that on this website for more details.

Very aggravating in 45k truck smh with 7k miles. Seems to do it at low speeds after brake applied.

There are a lot of the same reports...seems you either have it or you don’t and if you don’t you probably will at some point...very disappointing.

I’ve read everything from U bolts, yokes, drive shaft, splines, gears, transmission software, bad fluid in the TC...etc..there’s a ton of reading on this site, just grab a beverage and a sandwich because there is a lot to read ?

I would suggest a 6 or 12 pack, and a foot long for the sandwich.
