Oil levels

I'm not to great at mechanics so be easy on me. I have 03 Silverado 5.3 92,500 miles. Ha ING oil level issues. I can't find any leaks and I've never seen it smoke. But between oil changes I'm always low. I'm using synthetic mobile 1. Changed about 3000 miles ago and it was about a quart to a quart and a half low today. Any suggestions?

Check your oil more frequently?

 

Oil burners are not uncommon.

 

Use a thicker oil?

 

Rebuild it?

Rebuild it? It has 92 thousand miles... So you're saying 5.3 are known for burning oil? First Chevy I've ever owned.

Switch to another brand and see what happens.

What's you're recommendatio. MobIle 1 has been used in it since it was bought.

My 2002 was using a qt of oil to 8k miles.  No leaks and only smoke on start up if I was on the interstate for 4 hrs or more and started it the next morning.  It didn't do it all the time.  Then a leak developed and in the process of trying to stop it.  I changed out the intake gasket and the lifter valley cover gasket along with the oil pressure sensor since it was easy to get to.  Ever since then my oil consumption stopped and no more smoke on start up after pulling our trailer or long drives on the interstate. 

 

Changing out the intake and valley cover gasket is easy.

Wow. Mine is using about the same in 3k. And it's not even at 100k miles yet. Don't pull any trailers or any Inteestate driving. I'm a bit confused why mine is like that. But thank for the advice I will check into those replacements
