The time has come, I am just over 55,000 miles and I absolutely can't take the factory Rancho's any longer!

I seem to have narrowed it down to the Halo Lift Boss setup or the Fox 2.0 setup, either way I will be doing both front and rear with a rear block that is undetermined to keep my current stance.

Currently have a 1 1/2" lift/leveling in the front using a under strut spacer.

My goal is to have a better performing shock/strut combo that simply does everything better. Pavement, gravel roads and light off-road use.

Anyone that has either system in place, please share your thoughts! I have performed countless searches and read a ton of threads, saw a couple issues with the Fox 2.0 setup in the past but nothing really reported recently. Haven't seen anything negative about the Halo setup but seems too good to be true lol

Not interested in the Bilsteins, don't want the hassle of switching out the factory strut and reusing the factory spring setup, just want to be able to remove and replace with a solid unit ready to install.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

Not to add any additional second guessing but have you looked at the eibach pro lift? It’s a bit cheaper than the other two but a definite improvement over the factory. If you have looked at it and decided against it just disregard this message.

Codey,

Thanks for the heads up on these, price point seems good but it still puts me at assembling the struts which I would like to avoid. The 2" lift with the two systems I am looking at is basically my max as I'm not looking to buy new wheels and tires to take full advantage of a higher lift plus the UCA would have to be replaced I believe once you go 2 1/2" higher.

Appreciate you sharing, found some good info on the Eibach's when I searched.

I installed the Eibach Pro Truck Lift kit about a month ago after driving for 3 1/2  years on the Bilstein 5100s on the stock setting with a Zone 2" level kit.  The ride is pretty stiff.  I called Eibach to inquire about the spring rate and their springs are 828# per inch.  10% higher than stock which would put the stock springs around 745# per inch.  I ended up ordering a set of Halo Lift Boss Coilovers. The spring rate on theirs is 700# per in. I got them the other night but they left out the spacers to add the additional 1/2 - 1" of lift.  I emailed them and they called me the next morning to see when I planned on installing the set.  I read several reviews, even the Ford Toytec, and others.  They all had Great things to say about the product but even better things to say about the Customer Service.

I'm anxious to put my set on, and feel the difference between all three sets.

A good review is needed. Thanks for sharing the spring rate that helps allot. One day there will be another strut/shock thread better then bills.

Very good info, thank you for sharing!

I am adding Icons to the consideration list even though the Halo lift setup is still the front runner.

I think I need to replace my struts. Just bought Sierra 2015 1500 truck used @ 110k. Any pointers for strut upgrades with no lift shenanigans?

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
