UCA replacement....strut removal?

You cannot speak for eveyone... Had you of been there you would of seen what others have gone through. Speculation is just that. Yes it should be easy, but nothing in life ever is. In my case factory strut out bilstiens at top notch left me with about 1-1/2 inches past the bottom of the lca. I wish it just slid in but nope.
Having said that the second time i took them out to attempt LCA replacement they went back in like cake. The spring must have settled(compressed a bit).

Anyhoo much success wished to all who attempt swapping struts and spacers.
All I am saying I have never seen or had an issue on hundreds of installs when the tie rod and upper bearing are disconnected. Once those are disconnected you can push down on the LCA so far that you could fit a strut with a 6 in spacer if you needed to with no problem. I guess I have been lucky on every install.

Now I can admit on 2019s you use a spring compressor if you want to do it the right way because you have to do a 180degree rotation of the strut body.

Well agreed. Theres not much of a hurdle when you have it all apart. Its pretty much a cake walk. For the guy doin this at home on a budget, it seems like the more you take apart the more stuff you find is broken or is on its way out.

Like me for instance... I was one step away to putting my 20x10s n 305/55s on until I changed the front brakes and went to tighten the drivers side caliper... Fng whole spindle moved. Look while i was applying tq and saw the lower bj just swinging as I went. I was like ffffff. The thing that gets me is. I would of noticed it long ago if it wasnt for the electric steering.

I hear you and yes sometimes you find stuff broken as you take things apart. I guess that could be a good or bad thing depending how you look at it. The first time I did a lift/level install was in my driveway and followed the directions which had me take a few things apart. I have done it like that ever since. Have a good one.
