Passenger Seat Belt Warning

2018 Silverado 2500 HD

 

The passenger side seat belt warning for failing to fasten does not chime and there is no display on the center overhead console as page 86 of the owners manual says should be there. Dealer says it is not included on this year model of HD truck. ALL of my other vehicles regardless of manufacturer have had a seat belt warning for all front seat passengers for many years. I would think this system is a mandatory item by the NHTSA.

Is it a regular cab? With a “off” switch on the dash? Not sure if they are still this way but my 01 is. The switch is so you can disable the airbag if you have a child seat in the truck.

 

Did you buy it used? If so there is a plug under the seat make sure it’s plugged in. Some people have been know to unplug it so the reminder chime won’t chime... I plead the 5th...

IIRC, as it was many years ago since I owned a 3/4 ton, that 3/4 tons and above were exempt from the seat belt laws thus that may be why the passenger-side does not chime....just guessing.

Bought the truck new as first owner. Nothing unplugged or disabled by me. No dash switch to turn off either.

That may be possible but a Dodge 1 ton I traded in and my neighbors 3/4 ton both have working passenger belt chime warnings.
