2018 Silverado Eassist problem

Hi there, i bought a 2018 silverado LT eassist with front damage. It went to the garage and was fully repaired, but while it was at the garage they had problem with it because it will drain the battery. The truck runs good, no problem but the battery light will turn on when i drive it. And when you turn off the truck and want to start it again it won't start because clearly it have a low battery. But one more thing the truck did stand for more than 5 months without starting. And i experienced those problems right away when i got it back and drove it for the first time. I think that maybe because it stood for a while without starting and running the eassist batteries maybe went low and until now I've only drove the truck for short distances and on a low speed.

I'm new at this, can someone please help me.

So if you jump start it, it runs fine until you turn it off and then you can’t restart it?

If so, my thoughts are the battery is toast. Sitting for 5 months without being charged is very hard on our vehicle batteries, especially if it is over summer or winter. I suggest that you get the battery tested and then go from there.

And yes exactly like that, i'll charge the battery and when i put it back inside the truck it will drive fine but it will eat the battery. The battery sign will come on and it will say check charging system.

An auto parts store will check your battery for free.

My guess is the battery is bad.

Put a new battery in it.

Yes, and that's the first thing I've done. I bought a new battery and still the same problem. There's no chevy dealer where a live and that's a big problem for me right now. And it's like new technology so it's a bit confusing with the Eassist. But I'll check the alternator to see if maybe thats the problem.

Have you checked the atlernator?  Is it charging?  Put a volt meter on the battery terminals with the engine off and again with the engine running.  The voltage should be higher with the engine running.  Should be around 12.5 volts off and plus or minus 14 volts when running.  If you see no additional voltage with the engine running, pull the alternator off and have it tested.  If it's good off the truck, but not charging when on the truck, you may have a wiring problem.

Yes...based on the charged battery and it being used until it “dies” sounds like it is not charging the battery. Check alternator. Also check to see if the ground wires for the battery are going through the little hell effect sensor loop which will effect how much charging occurs.

I just dropped my 2017 1500 LT w/ eassist at the dealer with this same issue. Tech said that the truck has like 10 codes and they need more time to diagnose. Did you ever get this resolved?

Did you get your truck repaired? What was the problem? I am having the same problem with my 2018 GMC SLT

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
