Well that’s good news ! I’d love to do the AFM delete but not because of failure lol that’s what I was thinking was going on.

I would too, but I am afraid to considering I have an issue at 20k miles with a lot of warranty left.

Is this something that has been happening on a lot of the 5.3s? I had a 2014 with 40k on it and it didn’t have this issue. Are there any service bulletins out there for the issue yet? How concerned should I be with driving it until it gets fixed?

I don't believe it to be as widespread as the forum might lead you to believe. Remember the sample size.

I drove my 2014 5.3 to 110k before trading, and didn't have any of the problems I was allegedly supposed to have. I changed oil and filters when I was supposed to. The worst it got was needing a battery at 3.5 years. In Florida heat, that's not a bad lifespan. The AC in it was bad, but they all had that problem in 14-15.

My truck now (2017 5.3) has about 63k on it, still none of the problems either. I have a catch can on it, but time will tell if it matters.

No loud ticking like before on cold start! I’ll keep an eye on it for the next few days.
