Grease (zerk) fitting issue

I have a 2018 Silverado and cannot get a grease gun to fit on the zerk fitting. I spent 20 minutes trying with a performance tool brand grease gun and it eventually went on, but took me 45 minutes to remove as I had to take the wheel off, clamp locking pliers on and use all my force. I just bought a different grease gun from walmart and can’t get it to attach either no matter how hard I push down.

 I didn't know that came on a stock truck.

Just the tie rod ends

Just pressed really hard and it snapped on, then to remove I had to pull on an angle. I guess it’s acceptable as I don’t have to grease often

yes stock, outer tie rod ends still have fittings but I guess it’s a secret lol

The grease guns I used on my vehicles in the past, Jeeps, trucks, my John Deere X728, my trailer and my '14 GMC

have an end that you can unscrew a bit to make the connection onto the grease fitting.  Tighten this connection back up

(screw it back in) before applying grease.  When ready to remove the grease gun end from the grease fitting unscrew the

metal end on the hose end to loosen the connection and remove from the grease fitting.  Hope I am describing this procedure

clearly.  You may end up having to twist the gun around a bit if in a tight space to assist in loosening the end fitting on the grease gun.
