The fix for front seat pop/click-clack noises. Rear seat noises, and console lid noises

Recommended Posts

I spent the last week going through my truck finding and fixing all the noises from the seats and center console lid. Lower mileage trucks may not have all the same issues but I have heard a lot of complaints about the front seat popping when going through corners/curves and getting in and out of the truck. Mine was doing that and it got worse to where it started making that noise just driving down the road and hitting bumps or going over hills and dips in the road.

On the front seat, my method may not be the only method and tightening the bolts on those plastic pieces may be enough to stop the noise. But my way is working 100% perfect for me and my front seats feel like brand new seats. I didn't realize how loose they felt until I fixed them. Also, ALL the noise is gone from the seats.

I'm posting stuff on how to fix the rear seat noise and console lid noise too if you have those.

I'm going to copy and paste the write up I have on performance trucks below, so if any of it seems redundant it's because of that.

I spent the past several days going through my truck fixing all the annoying sounds that come from the interior of the truck. I have a higher mileage truck (130k) so mine may be worse than some of yalls trucks.

My rear seat was the worst offender and a very easy fix. The console lid was pretty annoying if you rested your arm on it while driving and the front seats make a pop when you go around a corner/curve and they got to where they started making that sound just driving down the road going over bumps/hills.

Here are videos on how to fix it all. None of it is very hard.

For the rear seat and console lid you'll need:
Spray lubricant, and or grease
Paper towels

For the front seats you'll need:
#2 phillips head screwdriver
T25 torx bit and driver for screw in rear seat trim, could use a ratchet here if need be
T20 torx bit and a small ratchet to sneak in under the seat cushion
Can of brake cleaner or something to remove grease
Paper towels
Roll of electrical tape
