Transmission temperature?

Normally takes my 8l90 15-30 minutes depending on ambient temp to reach 180-185 when the thermostat opens and fluid starts circulating into the cooler, then it pretty much stays there. I know this is normal and how the system was designed, but would it be a bad idea to bypass the thermostat like many have done? Id like some answers from someone that actually knows about peak operating temp, and shift points/lockup. Cooler normally seems better but I dont want to do something i'll regret. For reference I only drive the truck April/May - October/November in Michigan (40 - 100 degree ambient temps)

Lots of opinions on this.

I wouldn't be concerned as long as you do fluid/filter services.

Most important IMO fluid service.

You could change the fluid to a 100% synthetic quality fluid like AMSOIL.

All of my transmissions have gone over 200 K miles.

I've already installed a fill tube and dipstick, welded in a drain plug and exchanged 8 qts at 40k. Another 8 qts were exchanged at the dealer at 45k when they replaced the temp sensor
