Intermittent no start condition

2011 Silverado is having intermittent start issues. During the no start condition, the compass in the instrument cluster shows no direction. Instead, “- -“ is displayed. There is no clicking in the relay under the hood. I can sometimes remove the key to arms length, flip it over, and re-insert it into the ignition. As soon as a direction is displayed, the truck starts. If flipping the key doesn’t work, I can start the truck with the remote start feature. I have had the truck to my local dealer and my local mechanic. I cannot get the condition to occur for them. The computer is not producing any codes. And neither of them have seen this condition. Any help would be appreciated.

I switched keys about 3 months ago and had almost no issues up until a few days ago. Maybe it’s time to switch back.

I’ve been told that there is a sensor behind the dash that detects the key, and that this most likely is the issue. But no one give me a specific part name/number for the sensor. Or how to install and reprogram if I find it.

how many keys are on your key chain? saw a post years ago that the extra weight from the key chain can cause the cylinder/key barrel to wear out and make a poor connection to the contacts.

I’ve had the truck for less than a year and only about 6000 of the 87000 miles. My keys consist of the truck key and fob, a shop key and an aluminum carabiner clip.
