Check engine light

Recommended Posts

One month out of warranty and I get a check engine light this morning. The truck has 24000 miles and the outlet duct that connects to the throttle body has a crack in it causing check engine light to come on. I hope this is not the beginning of problems with the truck. One thing that was pretty nice is that OnStar text and emailed me almost immediately when the light came to notify me that an emissions problem had been detected. The part is ordered and will be here Monday. Below is the part that cracked.

What year is the truck? With that low of mileage and only being a month out of warranty I would have pushed for some good will from GM.

It's throwing a code because of the crack.

Every time I spray a can of CRC into the engine, I open up that duct and shoot it in. Throws a code every time.

Three start cycles later, light is off.

I had the truck in for repair today. I asked to see the duct that was removed. The flexible tube running into the airbox was almost completely broken off (thus causing it to suck air and throw a code). The mechanic said it is common. Have any of you guys had this happen? I also had the recall for the vacuum pump problem taken care of.
