Radio swap

So i’m new to the newer and GMC truck scene. I recently bought a 2015 Sierra 1500 with the 4 inch screen radio, I wanna upgrade to the full 8 inch screen with Apple CarPlay. Has anyone done this? Apparently you have to go to a 2016 model radio, is that true? Thanks!

You have to swap the actual screen and the module.

Does your truck have Bose speakers?
