Tire Rub

I have a 2019 Sierra AT4.

I recently put on 275 / 60R20's, they are a mud and snow tire with an aggressive grip.

They rub, not when I drive on flat surfaces and not when I am making normal turns (around a corner or something).

But they rub when I drive up a lip (into my driveway) or when I make a sharp 90 degree turn (parking).

It is the hard plastic GM factory front mud flap that is hitting the tire. It is the 

I went to a tire shop and they gave me some options.

 

It will not hurt my tires or my truck, where it is hitting is plastic and rounded (no edge) and because it is winter here it is always wet (meaning lubricated) the sound is annoying as all hell, but that is about it.

1) I can buy smaller tires.

2) I can make due with the noise if I do not want smaller tires.

3) I can remove the tire, remove the flap and cut out the section where it rubs.

 

 

I am leaning to option 3..... Advice? What is behind that flap?

I installed 33’s on mine and had to remove the splash guard because it rubbed. Ordered these as replacement: https://www.sharptruck.com/truck-hardware-finishing-cap

I ended up dicing my splash guards up as well. The rubbing is reduced my 95% or better...... I looked over the link you sent and I am not sure they will work for me. I had to pretty much remove my splash guard, this still puts on in it's place.

I have the same issue. Can you tell me what you did? I’m trying to keep my splash guards as winter is always bad where I live. I installed the same size tire as you did (Duratracs) on 20x9 +2mm offset. Appreciate any help!

I put silver duct tape over the guard and drove around for a day. Then I removed the guard and cut out everywhere the tape was rubbed. After cutting it I took a file to it to smooth it out and put it back on.

What size wheel and offset are you running? That looks like it was the cause of the rub more than anything.  Also a 2" level kit may have been a option vs cutting off the mud guards.

1.5" spacer

I do have the leveling kit installed

What is the offset on the wheel? That is not really that big of a tire. Members with 0 offset wheels are having no problem running 295x60x20s without a spacer. 

 

It almost sounds like the wheel was for the legacy body style.

It was, it came off my 2014 GMC Sierra All Terrain.
No idea what the offset it.
