Drain / fill plug torque specs needed....

Recommended Posts

I have always tightened drain and fill plugs by feel but I thought I would go by the torque specs on this vehicle.  I have a 2015 2500HD 6.0L.

Looked in the manual and didn't see them.

I found in this forum the front axle plugs are 30 ft. lbs. and the rear plugs are 24 ft. lbs.  Is that correct?

What are the specs for transfer case plugs?

How about the engine oil drain plug?

Thanks in advance for providing the numbers.

Super, thanks ?!!

Here is what I have for the 2015 2500HD 6.0L:

Engine oil: 6 quarts 5W-30 / drain and fill plug torque = 18 ft. lbs

Transfer case: 3.2 pints = 1.6 quarts Dexron VI (or equivalent) / fill to bottom of fill hole / drain and fill plug torque = 13 ft. lbs.

Front axle: 3.6 pints = 1.8 quarts 75W-90 / fill to 1/8" below fill hole / drain and fill plug torque = 30 ft. lbs.

Rear axle: 5.5 pints = 2.75 quarts 75W-90 / fill to 1/2" below fill hole / drain and fill plug torque = 24 ft. lbs.
