2017 halogen projector to LED headlights

OK, ive sat for the last hour, gone back through almost 20 pages of threads looking for info on this, and its been hit or miss at best.

Ive got a 2017 2500HD, LT package.  It has the halogen projector headlights, which absolutely suck.  My wifes stock headlights in her 2010 Rav4 put out more like than these things do.

Is there an LED that can plug directly in and actually put out better light?  Are HID's a better option?  After 2 years and 50,000 miles, im ready to trash these crap headlights.

Suggestions?

I suggest getting a hold of fast headlights. They have an HID kid that is literally plug and play. Light output is tons better. I have these on my truck and recently put them in my wife’s 2017 Acadia. They are the Hylux 2A88 35W ballasts with Morimoto 5500K bulbs.

honestly surprised no one else has any suggestions.

Thank for your input carpartsman.

Probably because this topic has been beat to death with more than several threads. Unless you want to change housings and do some in depth retrofitting, I’d suggest the plug and play hylux ballasts and morimoto or another high quality hid bulb. Again, give the guys at fast headlights a call or look. www.fastheadlights.com

Projector headlights use a convex lens to focus which require a point source filament or high voltage arc to focus properly. No LEDs are point source focused forward so the best you will get an out of focus distorted pattern cannot be adjusted properly.

And projector lens housings use mechanical shutters to cut off the upper edge of a high beam source to form a low beam which will make matters worse.

Best you can do with a projector lens is get a whiter brighter light source like a Xenon bulb or HID arc bulb....I used Sylvania zXe , nopw they make and even brighter high end zXe gold. These and similar one will produce the best you can get from a projector housing - the down siode is they have a shorter lifespan.

his truck does not have a shutter for high beam

Correct, my high beams are separate.

Looks like I'll probably go with the 55W HID'S.
