Diagnosing a vary strange issue

So my buddy come in today and said his truck was overheating. And when he stopped and shut it off his column started smoking and he looked into his engine compartment and saw his brake line coming off the master cylinder was red hot also he lost all power to the ignition nothing turns on at all and i haven't looked at it but i though this would be an interesting one for you guys. Would the electrical issue be a loose or bad ignition switch? And the overheating of his brake master cylinder im not sure what causes that. The engine itself overheating sounded like a thermostat But im not sure. Its a 1994 chevy 1500 auto. 305 motor.
