2016 Silverado Custom(manual 4wd)

When engaged in 4high while driving the indicator light on dashboard goes off and on, is this a problem?

Could be a stupid question, but is it truly in 4WD, or is it "trying to shift into 4WD"? Hope that makes sense, not fully engaging.

It’s truly in 4wd(can tell when at a complete stop and start again, but hard to tell when in motion.) when in motion and I accelerate indicator light goes off(most of the time), so I tried just holding the 4wd shifter back(while accelerating) and the light stayed on...

What's the temp where you are at?

 

I know at one time there were re flashes for the transfer cases, cold weather was making them do all kinds of weird things, staying locked in 4WD, not engaging, etc....

 

Did you buy the truck new, do you know the history of recalls and TSB's?

bought it used 2yrs ago. All recalls have been fixed, not sure about TSB’s. Probably have to take it to the dealer...

I would, anytime lights on the dash flash, or come on, it is never good news.

 

Have you cycled it through 4LOW, just to see if you can hear all of the actuators (the big clunks and bangs) working?

 

The more information you have (ammo), the better chances you have at the dealer with getting it fixed right the first time.
