Brandon Stone Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 For a few months now atleast and intermittently, my dash will glitch like its losing power....instances are getting on the gas the whole dash will glitch, pausing or stopping the radio. Got on my interstate one time and dash glitched, even turned on my windshield wipers. Another case was having my cruise control set and used my turn signal and it canceled out my cruise. I only drive my 14 silverado on my days off and somedays it does it and other days nothing. I know the possibilities of what it could be are endless but looking for insight. I know once I get it fixed they'll be a recall and I'll be out a probable grand for something electric or computer issue

If you feel your battery and all ground points are in good shape, I would start with the HMI module which is located in the dash behind the glove box.
Brandon Stone Posted February 15, 2020 Author Posted February 15, 2020 My battery never really drops below 14 when it's happening and connections are tight, mechanic that I've talked to said hes seen some pretty weird stuff happen when it's just a battery issue so hmi is a possibility
flyingfool Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 i get this once every other couple months, but it goes away.
Brandon Stone Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 Mines bout one day every other weekend but again I only drive it on my weekends...never seems to do it at night, not that should have anything to do with it

Brandon Stone Posted February 20, 2020 Author Posted February 20, 2020 I replaced it last year sometime but that doeant mean I dont have a bad cell somewhere anyways...it did start eventually happening after this battery but it could still be hmi...just hate to start replacing anything that dont need to be
JimCost2014 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I know what you mean about buying parts for no reason. Might just have to bite the bullet and take it in to see what they find, then maybe do the fix yourself?
Brandon Stone Posted February 21, 2020 Author Posted February 21, 2020 There tight and no corrosion, havent examined the actual cable but kinda limited to how much being by the firewall
flyingfool Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 try running in tow hauls for 5-10 min. as this will recharge the battery if the voltage is sagging in the low 12 volt range, it usually bumps me up to 14+ volts
Ozer Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Try adding a second negative cable from battery to ground by the brake booster. You can get one from autozone, about 6ft long. Bad ground cable is a common issue. Doing this on mine fixed every issue i was having and its a cheap solution.
