I was wondering if you  guys can point me in the right direction, I want to install a dashcam in my new 2109 Silverado. What is a decent quality cam without braking the bank...no cheap and annoying junk either...thanks for reading!

Blackvue DS7502ch I have in my Silverado and wife's ss, not sure what break the bank amount is for you but once installed and setup/fine tuned haven't done anything except some updates and view content, works great. Think I got them on black box my car.com

Grabbed key power from pass side and wired in power magic pro so setup for parking recordings also with time/low voltage adjustment.

I agree with www.blackboxmycar.com. Look around the website, they have great support also.!

Blackboxmycar.com is the place to go.   There is a wealth of knowledge on that site, cheapest prices and top notch customer service.  Right now I'm running the Escort M1 Dashcam that integrates into my escort radar detector in the front and a blackvue in the back.  I will be upgrading to the Blackvue DR900X 2ch when it comes out next month.  The 900X will be paired with 3 of their battery packs to utilize the "Parking Mode"  and over the cloud features.

Don’t laugh too hard :) but I’ve installed a Nexar $70 dash cam.  It creates a little WiFi network with my cell and does a pretty solid job.  I’ve been used it for a couple of weeks and a few road trips and it worked really well.   I have it attached to a Gen5diy power tap and tucked up by the mirror.   It’s doing well recording every trip, video looks very good even at night.   It doesn’t have a ton of features, but I wanted to test out dash cam use with something cheap.   I like that I just get in the truck and it works.  It does take a minute or two to start (because my cell must detach from my home WiFi before it attaches to the camera) but other than that, simple cheap.  The videos are available on my phone or in the cloud and storage doesn’t seem to be a problem.   The other solutions look really great (parking mode etc) and I’ll probably get there at some point.

Your best bet for the value is going to be the Viofo A119 V3:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SRQH4R7

Anker also makes a low-cost dashcam that is very good:

If you're looking for dual front and back, Viofo A129:

As mentioned above, you can't go wrong with a Blackvue but they are more expensive:

Here is what you're looking for.  Breaks down the different tiers of dash cams:  Budget, two channel, 4k, ride share and accessories.

I have been very interested in a front and rear cam myself lately but a couple things concern me.

I have 5% tint on the rear window and 30% on the windshield down to about the bottom of the mirror. Will it be able to see/record with that tint?

Second concern for me is i really do not want a large camera like most i have seen. What are some very small options that are out of sight?

Simple! Simple! Simple! This is my last concern as i am not a “techy”. I do well to text and play on these forums!

So to sum it up simple, small, and tint are my concerns. Anyone have a suggestion for that?

Thanks.

I have 5% on the rear and 30% on my entire front windshield and have no issues recording or viewing the videos.

If you use a blackvue model it will tuck behind your rear view mirror and you will never notice it.  I've attached pic I found off the blackvue website.

As far as finding a simple dashcam...  go to www.blackboxmycar.com and do some digging on their site.  They have walk throughs that will break down the different dash cams for you.  The owner of blackboxmycar is also on the video above.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. That one doesn't look to big. Some of the others look like they take up half the windshield.

Also your user name is great.

Thanks!  The size and orientation is what initially drew me to blackvue and I then I found out they are ARGUABLY the top Dashcam company around.  Another good Dashcam company is Thinkware, however, their cams are bit too bulky to me.

Rear camera for blackvue is 1/2 inch round by 2 inches long just have to position between the defroster lines, tint is a non issue.

on my t1 i put front camera up and over to pass side more as to get more over the hood. Before placement turn them on and view what they look like in the location before attaching. On wifes ss i hid under mirror so cant see when driving position but the hood slopes down more so doesnt obstruct view being that low like did on t1
