Dually's with BIG TIRES

What is the largest tire you guys havemounted on a newer 2001& later Dually? I was on the road & saw a lifted dually with some big mudders! HUGE! Could someone post a pic of their dually with some larger than stock tires? Thanks

I run 235/85/16 tires on my 01 dually. they are bridgestone dueller at

revos. they come close but do not touch. i don't think anything larger

would fit without using some kind of spacers. the 235/85/16's look

awesome and ride much better than the stock 215/85/16. also the

new tires are load range E.

I doubt that this will be much help other than saving you from a potential heat related tire failure but. The 235/85-16 tires are not able to fit properly on our vehicles. We have a stock wheel center spacing of aprox. 10" Firestone/Bridgestone recomend 10.8" minimum to allow for tire buldge when loaded and I also guess a certain amount of heat disapation through the side wall.

 

I am also looking for avenues to increase tire size but maintain my carring capacity. I have looked all over for replacement wheels with a slightly greater offset. Even aluminum wheels that due to their thickness at the mounting point will provide additional spacing. I have yet to find something specifically engineered for our application.

 

American Racing does offer aluminum wheels for chevrolets but the wheels are not hub centric. (= uses the hub to center and support the vehicle) But theirs are lug centric, which I have to assume would not be as stable and would need to be checked more frequently. I've had cars with these barrel-lug configurations and know that I wouldn't want to have to line up 8 of these lugnuts alongside of some strech of highway in a storm.

 

I will be watching this topic closely for any help that is availble also.

problems.

My 00 came with 235/85R16D (though its used). I'd love to fit some 255/85R16s on there, but that would would take some different wheels. Check out Rickson Truck Accessories. They make a 19.5 wheel for our trucks, which accepts medium duty tires. I would imagine that these would be larger. http://www.ricksontruck.com/
