Please leave this post in the general section so more people can see.  If i put it in the S-10 section i wont get many replies

Well here it goes.  About a yr ago while drying my moms blazer i had the radio on (10 min tops).  Well battery died.  Charged it and all was fine.  2 months later she did the same thing.  Charged it and it was fine.  Well this morning she tried to start her blazer for work and it wont start (battery).  She played one song after she washed her truck yesterday.

The green indicator is still there when i had run it down the green was gone.  I am charging it as we speak but she is pissed and wants a new battery.  Truck is way under the 36K warranty and has till the end of august for the 3 yr.  Will chevy cover this?  I thought hers has battery run down protection  It currently has an AC Delco Freedom battery

Thanks

They may not cover the battery itself, but they should cover anything that is causing it to drain down.  They may cover the battery, not sure though.  I would think it would fall under the same catagory as fluids/filters etc.

Had my dad call the local dealer and they said this shouldnt be happening.  They are going to fix it.  Just gotta get it started and take it there now

Ryan,

I've seen batteries do this before, and still give you the green "eye", especially if 1 or 2 cells are bad, they can drain off the others.  Could be something else also - particularly if you have this happening w/ a new battery . . . .

Have them check your alternator output, voltage regulator and connections also, if they will do it.  My Olds dealer replaced our battery @ ~28K miles on the Alero - it just up and died one day w/ no warning whatsoever.

Good luck.

Sounds like a bad cell in the battery.

The green eye may still be working, but you could have a dry, shorted out, platelette deprived cell over on the other side of the battery.

If you can't get to a GM dealer, you can even go to Napa, have them put a load on the battery with a load tester and it should be able to tell you immdiately if a bad cell is present.

If the battery is eliminated as the problem, are you sure it's not the starter?  GM truck starters are notorious for getting the brushes hung up.

We had a bad platelette in the battery on one of my Olds.  GM paid for the tow, and the new battery!  It was so badly shorted out i couldn't get it to jump off the truck.  I never even tried to charge it...
