RadoPhan Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 I used plastidip on my Z71 emblems here are a couple photos of the process for those interested Now I feel like I should’ve just done this lol. How clean is it where the red part touches? Was it meticulous to take it off or normal process as any other plastidip job?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Wasn’t too meticulous , I actually cerakote firearms so masking the red off wasn’t bad, I did notice not to tape the red all the off, keeping a gap between the red and chrome allowed the plastidip to peel away cleaner and I just scored it with a razor blade, first time I’ve ever used plastidip as well, very impressed with the application process 1 1
ThatredneckguyJamie Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Thought about doing something like this with mine, everything else is blacked out (except the Z71 like yall mentioned) but they left the 6.2 emblem chromed

RadoPhan Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 EbayIt does look nice but I prefer the newer cutout design vs older styles Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RadoPhan Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Thanks!!!! I guess the sanding is about right, just doesn’t scuff it up as much as I thought it would. I’ll give the alcohol a try. For the paint, I’ll probably use Rustoleum plastic automotive paint since it says it adheres to plastic easier and is a primer/paint combo. The only thing I’ll do different is not taking it apart since I just bought new ones that have the exact adhesive cutout already. I just tucked the tape under the chrome parts carefully which took forever!!! Thanks again for the insight! Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkSo turns out this wasn’t the best approach. Finally got around to painting it and when I tried to peel up the tape even with scoring it, it took chunks of paint here and there from the chrome parts. Back to ground zero and I might just plastidip it now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also, how clean is the break from the red to black parts? Any tips/pointers? I’m probably going this route now since my original plan failed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It’s holding up very well, best part was that I didn’t have to remove the badge, also where the red meets the black isn’t 100% there are a couple places where it peeled when I initially did it, but it looks perfect if you aren’t up close inspecting it

I might just try blacking it all out first and see how that look goes. On white it might look okay. Much rather prefer the red part to show but my OCD will probably get the best of me. RadoPhan Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 How's this?Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using TapatalkI saw that on eBay. Looks better than stock for sure but I think deleting the chrome in general will be better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RadoPhan Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 Can’t believe I didn’t find these before. Not only do they have the red, it also has the cutout for the “71”. They’re $95 but well worth it to me. Waiting on them to arrive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
