Made a left turn, Stabilitrak alarm went off then steering got stiff for a few. Parked the truck lest than 30 secs later and shut it off. Restarted it and it was totally dead. 10 secs later I heard a click and all my gauges went up and down slightly then the truck restarted fine..........except for this window message I keep getting everytime I start the truck. I've put the window down then up, I've put all the windows down then up, still have alarm. Disconnected negative battery cable for 30 mins, still have alarm.

I have already done both G218 grounds and the one behind the right cylinder head about 3 months ago and all was good until this happened.

Any ideas of what to do next before the expensive trip to the dealer ?

BTW battery was replaced last year and redid both ground wires from the negative battery cable to the back of the engine and the frame also.

Thanks everyone !!

Mine does this every time my ground is removed. I think it’s just a default. Make sure your battery ground is tight.

Your new battery might be bad, I would get it checked out to be safe.

This is the usual warning that shows up after you change, or the battery is going bad.

Yes, I was going to recheck the frame ground after the winter season. My battery terminals are both tight but I think I am going to remove and clean both of them and retighten.

I did get the message to go away:

I tried the window lock button on the driver's door. Then restarted the truck. The window message went away and then for a split second a " Service Stabilitrak" message came up then went away and everything is clear now. So that's what I was thinking was something isn't making a good connection somewhere.

I'll have the battery checked out as well and see what goes from there.

Update:

Battery checked out ok.

--Took both battery connectors off, cleaned both posts and connectors, applied dielectric grease to both.

--Took all wires off on top of the battery and scuffed all connections with emery cloth then dielectric grease to all.

--Removed frame ground cleaned terminal and frame with die grinder pad and applied dielectric compound to both.

So far, no issues. If I have any I will post it here.

Thanks to everyone's posts for advice.

Ok, so the weather turns cold, problem returns again. Complete shuts downs while driving making turns to a parasitic drain on MY NEW BATTERY. Going to the dealer Monday, not going to be stranded along the road at night. Meanwhile , I carry a spare battery incase I need a jump. Disconnect negative cable every night and charge battery. Lock doors only one push on the fob, no theft deterrent activated when stopping at stores.

I stopped at a hardware store, shut the truck off and I knew it wouldn't start, and it didn't. I smacked the frame ground with my trailer hitch and shut my hood, then the power came back on.

So now I think, could it be the negative cable not being crimped right ? A new replacement cable with same part # is not the same cable. It is shorter and has the wrong eyelets on the ends.  Is it something else ? I dunno and am tired of fixing a truck with only 42000 on it. The dealer can have the problem now. Update to follow after.

Went to the dealer today. Diagnostics found many low voltage messages. Mechanic found a voltage drop between the positive (short) battery cable from the battery to the terminal it connects to. Part is about 60 bucks, had to order. Gmpartsdirect list this part as #6 but is not listed to be able to buy it. Must have to get it at a dealership only. The mechanic told me they have replaced many of these. I'll post the part # when I get it tomorrow if it comes.

$79 diagnostic fee, total of $250 to install ! I'll do it myself.

I have a 2015 Silverado 2500HD...

I'm getting that same message on my screen (Action Required Open Then Close Drivers Window)...except neither window on the drivers side will go down, and the radio won't shut off after I pull out the key.

I've been having trouble with the 'Door Ajar' alarm on the back door drivers side and I'd jiggle the wire harness on the back door and it would make it go off...plus when this would happen the electric door locks quit working until I jiggled that wire harness.

However, just before the windows quit, the 'Door Ajar' warning went off for both drives side doors and I couldn't get them to go off...then suddenly they did, and this is when this window alarm started going off.

Anyone have any ideas about this issue?

    • I find it amusing the OP doesn’t realize this threads heading includes several engines. He should have posted in the off topic section if he wanted a more narrow focus. I really appreciate and find amusing that he actually pointed out one of my many vehicles. The Odyssey. That happens to use 0-20 oil. I love pushing his buttons.
    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
