How do you put this thing in 4 Low?

I pulled up my 18 manual and found the following info.  There is a process for the manual transfer case and and a process for the electronic transfer case.  Apparently you can shift into 4Lo at 3mph or less and with the manual case it may be required to move from a stop to get it to shift into 4Lo.  With the electronic case it will override the request to go to/from 4Lo if you are above 3mph and not shift.  It appear for the electronic case you pretty much have to be at a full stop to get it to switch in or out of 4Lo.

I don't use 4Lo very often but I am going to continue to be at a full stop anytime I need to use it.  Not worth the possibility of damaging the transfer case.

Manual transfer case:

Shifting In or Out of 4 n
Caution
Shifting the transfer case into 4 n
while moving at speeds faster
than 5 km/h (3 mph) may cause
premature wear to the transfer
case, and may cause the gears to
grind.
1. If possible, shift with the
vehicle moving 5 km/h (3 mph)
or less.
2. Shift the transmission into
N (Neutral).
3. Shift the transfer case shift
lever in one continuous motion.
4. Shifting with the vehicle at a
stop may be more difficult. It is
possible that the shift will not
complete and the transfer case
will remain in N (Neutral). This
is normal. To complete the
shift, with the engine running,
shift the transmission to
D (Drive) and back to
N (Neutral), and reattempt the
transfer case shift.

Electronic transfer case:

Shifting Into 4 n
When 4 n is engaged, vehicle speed
should be kept below 72 km/h
(45 mph).
1. The ignition must be on and
the vehicle must be stopped or
moving less than 5 km/h
(3 mph) with the transmission
in N (Neutral). It is best for the
vehicle to be moving
1.6 to 3.2 km/h (1 to 2 mph).

2. Turn the knob to 4 n. Wait for
the 4 n indicator light to stop
flashing before shifting the
transmission into gear.
If the transmission is in gear and/or
moving more than 5 km/h (3 mph),
the 4 n indicator light will flash for
30 seconds and not complete the
shift. After 30 seconds the transfer
case will shift to 4 m. Turn the knob
to 4 m to see the indicator. With the
vehicle moving less than 5 km/h
(3 mph), and the transmission in
N (Neutral), attempt the shift again.
Shifting Out of 4 n
1. To shift out of 4 n the vehicle
must be stopped or moving
less than 5 km/h (3 mph) with
the transmission in N (Neutral)
and the ignition in on. It is best
for the vehicle to be moving
1.6 to 3.2 km/h (1 to 2 mph).
2. Turn the knob to 4 m or 2 m.
Wait for the 4 m or 2 m indicator
light to stop flashing before
shifting the transmission
into gear.
If the transmission is in gear and/or
moving more than 5 km/h (3 mph),
the 4 m or 2 m indicator light will flash
for 30 seconds, but will not complete
the shift. With the vehicle moving
less than 5 km/h (3 mph), and the
transmission in N (Neutral), attempt
the shift again.
