He probably doing other bad things and escalating to worse problems. In my area a couple of cowboys would probably teach him manners. At the very least a couple outside cameras would be a good idea.

It is astounding how much of our behavior is learned.  A toddler won't think twice about hitting his parents, grabbing the dog's ears or pulling a hot pot off of a stove.  Our operating system is pretty basic and our storage capacity is huge. This is exacerbated by the length of time it takes for our brains and bodies to fully develop. The opportunities to receive poor programming are countless and our fixes are much  fewer.  A couple of weeks ago  while out for an evening walk, I observed a teen kicking over garbage cans that were placed at the curbside.   He was by himself, didn't appear "homeless"  but was bigger than I cared to confront.   This guy was at a critical stage of development.  He was obviously not able to properly express his frustrations and was in an acute need of guidance.

Why not ask the kid whats going on?  I think being open to discussion from elders is a start instead of punitive hammers.  I know as a juvenile delinquent finally having elders listen to me helped. Of course the judge sent me to USN instead of Indiana State Boys school which was a good thing....LOL

Definitely!  The problem in this situation was I didn't feel safe if he had unknown issues.  It was dusk and not a lot of eyes around.   I now have three teen grandkids and they talk to Nana and me with an incredible  level of openness.  Their parents receive the grunts and groans!  (pay back 😉 )

I am sorry, I heard you on that fear.

I think like a broken older disabled veteran. If they kill, beat, or kick me down, been there done that.....physically I have nothing to lose. 🤣

The past can be really hard, if not impossible, to ignore when dealing with today.   I have made great headway in cleaning out stuff that was useful in the past.  Nothing was/is more difficult to sort through than old pictures and videos.  These serve to keep my past successes and hardships fresh in my mind.   The reality is we're in the present.  Today for example, I feel tough physically.  I know if I'd done things differently in the past, I could feel better or perhaps worse.  This really doesn't make a difference because I have to deal with what is bothering me today.  This applies to every aspect of my life.  I often wish I saved more for retirement yet other times I feel happy that we prepared as well as we did!   The reality  is we work with what we have today.  Riding around on my motorcycle often finds me meeting other motorcycle people.  Chances are if they're riding a Harley, they are aged like me.  Most will introduce themselves by talking about what they're doing now and in the future.

Sugar Bear and I went to get our 2nd booster Friday. Only ones there initially. Yes we wore our masks and we are use to the looks of disapproval. During our wait a fella walks in and sits a few chairs away and blurts out. "How do you breath with those things on"?. We look at each other .(Is he talking to us?)

I told him that as a refinery worker I had many an occasion to wear a Scott Air Pack (think Fireman self contained tank air) for extended periods of time and they 'draw' much harder than a KN-95 and I found those no issue. I added that I also find them useful mowing to help with my allergies. Lastly I smoked for 35 years and frankly do not understand the issues others have with MY choices.

BOOM!!!!! Fire shot out of his eyes and smoke out his ears. He went into an incoherent rant about scripture, eating pork and his smoking habit that never caused him an issue (gasping through the entire rant). Then the pharmacist called his name and off he went like a little lamb. Just weird. Scary but weird.

I have no hesitation wearing a mask around others.  I often wonder how many stopped using them because they are not "required". The only reason my once two year old would stop grabbing pots on top of the stove is because mom and dad told him "no".    Putting on a mask when entering a public venue is so effortless for me and this habit can potentially save me from illness.  I don't choose to wear a mask based on someone else's permission.  Last night on the news they were reporting a dramatic increase in the flu even though it isn't flu season.  There is a connection between this trend and the elimination of our Covid mandates.  I understand, but don't agree with, a reluctance to having a needle in my arm.  However, anyone who feels the need to question another for wearing a mask is dealing with other unknown issues!  Thank you for your efforts in keeping yourself and those around you a little safer!

WARNING RANT

We were shopping two days ago in a little Colorado town of Florence for used buffet for hallway.  My lady loves to look in antique and junk stores.  Walk in 70 YO something owner starts blathering almost immedietly about last president and he calls out my disabled vet tags on the Trail Boss and thinks I am brainwashed like him. I hold my tongue and my darling runs out the door as I inform this NON VETERAN how wrong he is about the VA, what the last president didn't do but took credit for and that if he has never been a VA patient how does he know all this...........he informs me he watches FOX 62 here.....

Another Boomer who listened to too much AM radio and RUSH ditto heads...........ruined honest constitutional conservatives in US forever.  I have no where to turn usually in an election so I choose the least worst.

RANT OFF

The Covid dashboards are the same between states no matter how lockdown they were versus wide open. If people are comfortable wearing the mask, fine. There’re useless to most people.

Sort of like how you only need to fill one side of a Harley gas tank.  Unless you completely seal off both halves, they'll level with each other.  Two days ago a man ahead of me in a lineup turned around and coughed in my direction.  Nothing about this incident suggested bad intentions.  However, I felt spray and glad I was wearing a mask.  I only wish he was one of the many patrons who choose to wear a mask in crowded venues!  There are a lot of people here continuing to voluntarily wear masks and I don't agree they are useless to most people.  I appreciate the pros and cons and am respectful of the choice made by individuals and am happy that challenges over the efficacy of masks in my surroundings is a non-issue.

Hardly ever does. Dinner at a fast food spot yesterday. We eat in the car in the parking lot most times. Last night I ducked in quick to use the boys room and as foot traffic was light and I was nearly to the door before I realized I left my mask in the truck. I continued.

Upon exit just as I reached the door a man leaving the dinning room, both hands full of tray and three feet away coughed eyeball to eyeball. OMG!!  That was the look on his face. He didn't mean to.

Well that one is on me. :)

As a young high school student in drivers education we had to watch a series of traffic accident films called "Dead Right" This reminded me of that.....

On the way home from visiting my father in law in Fayetteville we stop at our usual casino in Gulfport. As you can imagine Sunday, Monday mostly older folks like me. The only mask clad person was a young Asian dealer. The blue hairs were picking on him as he mumbled through his cloth mask. I honestly did correct those people to let him be as he was working. Probably was fearing the bug. Live and let live as long as I can do the same. Of course he passing out cards bare handed while playing with the mask. Oh well at least he feels better.

The annual travelling carnival has arrived after a two year break.  It is being setup at our local mall parking lot which is a  daily walk destination.  It is baffling how much money they need to take in for this event to be profitable .  They arrive in dozens of customized rigs and spend three days transforming their trailers into rides, concessions, games, and staff accommodation.  They run for three or four days, pack up and move to the next town. I use to think this event was a "rip off" but now that I have time to observe the bigger picture my perception has changed.  I've even had the opportunity to speak with a couple of the carnival staff. Absolutely fascinating.   Thank goodness I don't have kids or grandkids around to pressure me to take in this event as I might not be so pleased!!!

I heard Geoffrey Zakarian speak a few minutes with Seth Meyers a night ago talking about owning a restaurant. It went something to the effect:

People think you have to have great food. And you do. They think (AND can't remember this part) and you do. But there are a thousand other things you need. Good reviews, Good location. A great staff. money, legal, supplier support. Licenses and inspections. Cleaning.  Most restaurants close within three months. If you make it a year, your doing something right. But past that most restaurants vacillate between profit and loss month over month and let you make a living. Very few ever make a true profit that allows the owner to quite putting in 15 to 18 hours a day.
