Ditto here.  On first day available.  Also Colorado is going to start testing statewide sewage effluent to get a grip on status of virus.  One big weakness of most of US is that we have never tested properly or broad based to really know where the virus is, which virus, how prevalent.  I think thats why some think it's abated.

We didn't get Covid. We know some who did. The reason IMO is we took it serious and did all we could to prevent it. Lots of hand washing, first thing when we got home. Avoiding crowds, always masked and no family gatherings. The vehicle was disinfected regularly. When we were out and about to get life essentials we used disinfecting wipes on our hands first thing when we got in the car.  Our rural life probably helped.

Good common sense. Most our age range ( boomers)  took it seriously.

Y'all got a second booster up there? Don't think that has hit Texas yet. I am supposed to get my third shot, first booster, since my mother and girlfriend tell me I need to but I think we are past it.

We locked down tight and so have far avoided getting IT. We just became available to have the second booster. We WILL get it. Just a matter of when. Our state has 'stopped mandatory reporting" and yet the news says we should wait until we see it spiking. :dunno: How do you know when heads are in the sand? :dunno:

Wife and I are still using mask and hand sanitizer and much washing. And one of the few in our area that are. There are some but most have given in or have given up. I never like to be the first to the dance or the last to leave 😉

Seeing our friends and family get polio and suffer greatly was a wake up call for me as a kid.

My mother was a polio victim. I had more vaccines before I was five than an Angus steer. My kids all got there full series as well. Six kids, 15 grands. Not a three eyed frog in the pond.

Yesterday while out walking, a young man shot a sponge type bullet at me from the passenger side of passing pickup while calling out an obscenity.   I felt horrible for the young man pulling the trigger.  His upbringing obviously lacked in key areas.   We all like playing and teaching our children when they are young but become more "hands off" when they get older.   You can still respect your child's independence while providing continuous guidance and supervision.  I'm certain Covid forced many families to be closer and this shouldn't be dropped like a mask.   My three kids always enjoyed age appropriate freedoms but we always required a "place and purpose" when they weren't home.  In return, they always knew what we were doing and how to get ahold of us and they still do!

Somebody needs to tell that kid,  in today's world his actions might get him or his family shot-up

Exactly.  I also hope that when he brags to his friends about his bravado, one sets him straight.  I believe it would be a challenge to find a high-school peer group where this particular behavior would garner any respect.  However, the gaps in development that would make this acceptable may be too hard to repair.   I don't carry but someone would have had a clear opportunity to return fire with a pretty solid defense.

I bet his peer group/friends got a good laugh and that was his reason for doing it.

Yes, I'm sure he found support.  I like to think his circle is larger which increases his chances for "education".

I am very cautious around people but believe most are good.  Not pointing guns at other people (toy or otherwise) and showing respect to seniors are lessons I attribute mostly to my childhood peers.   I also worked in the school system and dealt with pretty messed up kids but most had basic qualities.  Showing disrespect to the elderly and/or disabled is not popular in most groups.  I am guessing most of us have bragged about a deed only to find out your "friend(s)" thought differently.

I live in a very conservative area. No BS allowed. We back our police and give them room to work. I stay away from questionable areas when traveling and don’t drive at night in unfamiliar areas. There’re 3 gun ranges within 5 miles from me, people don’t mess around here. Safety is not an issue. I don’t go around groups of kids unsupervised. I use to go to Astro games the ball park is amazing. The parking area is questionable. I didn’t feel safe. In my travels the place that gives me pause is Fayetteville NC. Very crowded and fast paced. I feel most safe when I travel in casinos. Security everywhere.
