S&B Or AFE Intake

Just curious if anyone has the S&B installed and if so, what are your thoughts on it? Looking to pull the trigger on this but wanted to make sure I go this route vs AFE. And yes I know it’s marginal gains and mostly noise which I do like.

just got mine yesterday. I have a carven catback as well so its obviously quieter than that but I do like that it balances the sound a bit between the engine and back. A little throaty when you get on it but not really a noticeable difference in response or power

Nice!!! I really wanted the S&B but had to go a different route since no one would sell and ship me one in California. I was able to get my hands on an AFE so we will see how that goes. Heard good stuff about both but liked that the S&B had a bigger filter.

It is huge. Haha. Yea I saw on their website that you have to confirm it isn't going to CA. It took me almost a month to get it because it was on backorder but overall I am happy. Will see how it holds up. Let me know how you like the AFE

I’m really impressed by the AFE intake. Well built and decent throttle response. Noise level is just enough, not too quiet and not too loud.

How is the noise out of the engine bay. Can you hear the intake sucking air?

less so than on the k2 trucks if you are familiar with those. So I have a carven catback as well so the exhaust covers up a lot of the noise so it is hard for me to gauge but it did balance the sound from the engine to the back of the truck a bit.

Just curious, since I’ve had intakes on Toyota’s in the past and sometimes at WOT there would be drone just at the right RPM, because of the big filter do you get any drone? The AFE hasn’t had any but I’ve only had it for a few days and haven’t tested it in different scenarios.

There's a really small window where I can hear the hollow tube sound if I get on it but it's only for a second or two.i don't know that I would call it drone. On the k2 trucks with a airaid tube or cai you could hear the hollow tube sound when getting on it through a lot of the rpm range.

Yeah that’s a similar noise I would hear on my Toyotas but it was decently loud. And you can hear the vibration. Thanks for the feedback
