No power from battery

Recommended Posts

I have a 2020 AT4 6.2 with 5800 miles. Drove up to lake place and next morning no power from battery. Charged battery for 8 hours and still no power... no key fob, lights, starter... completely dead. I gave disconnected the negative terminal on the battery and will connect later and try.

Any ideas what this could be? I am 150 miles from my dealer!!

If you’re using the flat tab on the positive and the negative lug built into the fender to charger the battery then that’s your problem. I’ve had a dead battery twice already and I found directly connecting to the battery is the way to go.

Also I’m guessing you were unloading stuff and opening and debuting the doors a lot when you got there? That’s probably what killed it. I think that’s what killed mine this last time.

Why would opening and closing the doors a lot to unload stuff/gear be a problem.....?  If that is the case then there is a design problem.  I go to camp all the time and over the past 12 years never had this be a problem with any of my trucks.....

I’m not sure but I can only assume it’s from all the “systems” that wake up thinking you’re about to get in and drive. You know, the “my truck makes a noise when I unlock it” complaints? You gotta remember there’s a lot of technology in these newer trucks. They’re not the same as they were 12 years ago.

I’m talking about excessively opening the doors. Like 15 times in an hour. That’s the only thing I can think of that killed my battery because it’s been done ever since.

Hhmmmm...  I will have to to keep an eye on it when I go to camp next month and make I have the battery charger with me.

And again, if you ever need to jump it don’t use that silly tab for the positive post. It just doesn’t transfer the power efficiently. I removed the plastic cover and connected directly to the battery posts. Made a HUGE difference.
