Trailer Disconnected

Recommended Posts

Here's the scenario:  Plug trailer in, dash shows Trailer Connected, trailer app shows - all is good.  Soon after (trigger not determined- I can only guess I moved vehicle and shut it off) the DIC shows trailer disconnected and app shows same.

So, I figure connector is done. Replaced it.

Next venture - exact same issue.

Now here's why Im thinking its the vehicle:   lights, side view camera - everything still works even though truck shows Trailer Disconnected and app is offline.  Then after playing around with it, started working again.

Thoughts?

Does your trailer have LED lights?  When I got my truck I also got the trailer camera.  I didn't have my trailer so I took a trailer plug and connected a trailer light so the truck would recognize a trailer connected.  Later on I bought small led's to connect to the trailer plug (less bulky).  The LED's did not have enough load for the truck to recognize the trailer connection.  It was very iffy until I added more led's to give it enough load.  I saw in another post that there is a plug adapter that adds load for vehicles that have trailer light checking systems.  Look up Tow Ready 20142-7way flat pin to plug adapter.

There are a couple of similar adapters.
