I got the bars and was excited to install them. I was missing 3 locking nuts and the washers provided for the rail clips did not fit the bolts.

The holes in the crossbars themselves that you insert bolts into for length adjustment didn’t align well and it was a mission to get the bolts through. I emailed and was told “with a little finesse” they will go through. The bars are cool but not what I expected from a product this expensive.

Overall it’s a cool and useful product but after I ordered it I found a cheaper option, and given these issues, I can’t recommend it to anyone considering how much they cost.

Thanks for the review. Out of curiosity, what are these used for? I’m guessing kayaks and maybe bikes?

yup, I primarily got them to carry bikes when the bed is full of camping gear or whatever, but I might play around with a cargo rack and see what else I want to put on them, the cross sections remove easily for when you want to open the cover! I’ve been thinking of getting a kayak as well but not sure I can justify the cost on that yet haha

I found those bars when I was searching for a possible bike rack. I have a Leer hard folding tonneau and love the idea that the bars are easily removed. What other product did you find? How are they mounted to the bed?

I got mine for bike racks and a cargo basket.

heres the cheaper option:

in both cases the bracket hangs into the bed and clamps to the rail:

Does your tonneau have a rail that it sits on? My Leer has a rails that runs the entire length of the bed. I tested a 3/16th piece of aluminum that I had and it would fit under the rails (just need to add waterproofing afterwards) but I don’t see how the brackets attach to the bed side. Do you use the holes at the stake pocket?

I have the bakflip Mx, it does have rails that run the length, I added some weather stripping. they don’t use the stake pockets, the flat section of the bracket sits on top with a a piece than hangs into the bed, then it has clips to attach it to the inner rail similar to how the bedcover rails attach. I can take a better pic for you tomorrow if you like. This design allows you to place them anywhere on the bed that you like it’s hard to see in my picture but you can see the two nuts that secure the clips of the bracket to the inner rail, those are for the bars and not the cover
